A solid sterling silver mussel shell sand cast by hand in my studio. I used a natural shell found on the beach in Whitby and created a mould to cast the fragile shell into a  more robust piece that can be worn on every adventure. No two are ever the same due to the handmade nature, just like no two shells are ever the same in the ocean.

It has long been a dream of mine to capture these organic finds in silver form, exalting their beauty from beachcombing trinkets to timeless adornments.

The mussel shells elongated shape and natural ridges make for an elegant and tactile pendant. Since being a child I have found these shells along the local shoreline, their beautiful blue outer shell peaking out amongst the seaweed. Inside the shells are smooth and pearlescent some even have a hint of peach. A myriad of layers and tones, much like ourselves. They're resilient creatures, creating strong tethers to surfaces to enable them to move but they also use this tether as an anchor to stay safe during rough tides.

My hope is that this pendant helps the wearer find their own tether, one that helps them embrace life’s changes. A balance between learning to move with the tides when adventure calls but also being ok with slowing down and grounding oneself when the storm hits.

Each pendant comes with a choice of chain, please select length at checkout.
